FEDEX GROUND FACILITY BRINGS ECONOMIC ENGINE TO BAYTOWN
A new FedEx Ground facility coming to Port 10 will benefit the city of Baytown, city officials say. Occupying more than 337,000 square feet, the center will reside just off I-10 near Hwy 330 and will provide easier access to the Houston Ship Channel and Houston MSA.
“We’re very excited about what this new development will bring to the Baytown community,” said Bret Gardella, Baytown Community and Economic Development Manager. “FedEx is a leader in logistics and transportation and having their presence in our city adds to our impressive array of Fortune 100 companies.”
The facility is being built by Houston developers McNair Interests and Pontikes Development, who made their mark working closely with end-users to provide fit-for-purpose results. Gardella says city officials have worked with Pontikes Development for the past seven years on the Port 10 project and credited the team for their promptitude and professionalism.
“This development is a milestone project, not just for Port 10 Logistics Center and Pontikes Development, but also for the City of Baytown,” says Nick Pontikes, Vice President Construction and Design. “With hundreds of parking spots, this is going to be a facility that creates jobs and benefits the community, including the citizens and workers of Baytown and its economy. We’re just getting started with this project. We have over 500,000 square feet of leased warehouse space on site, a pending 400-car rail yard, and over 1,000,000 square feet of new space in the development. Port 10 is just starting to take off.”
The facility is expected to begin operations in November 2022.
